Ladies Travelling Alone - Warning!!

WARNING!!! Especially Women!

For your attention and protection, please be aware when driving on the N2.

On Friday 23/10/09 at about 15:00, I was driving my son and girlfriend from Rondebosch to the Strand, as I thought it was safer than catching the train, on the N2!!

Just past the airport turnoff we got stuck in heavy pre-weekend traffic/road works and were stationary.

Suddenly a young man leapt over the barrier and asked for cell phones etc. I tried to wind the window up when he stabbed me in the chest and ran off into the shacks - empty handed.

I was rushed to Vincent Pallotti and spent 2 nights in ICU.

I feel I was picked out because I am a female, driving an older car.

Since the incident I have heard there has more incidents in roughly the same area, mostly on women, one I know was fatal, and had 3 young kids in the car.

Can you please put an alert out for all women (and men) to be extra aware of the N2 - it's upsetting when reading the paper of yet another attack.
